Elmore Treehouses

“How do we rewild people and reconnect them with place in the process of staying and experiencing this landscape?”

Phil Hurrell, Lead Architect

Set within woodland overlooking Elmore Court’s 250-acre rewilding landscape, six treehouses are carefully placed among the trees, creating immersive retreats shaped by light, weather, and the seasons. Conceived as part of the wider rewilding vision, they extend the landscape’s ecological and philosophical aims, offering spaces for rest, reflection, and reconnection.

The design treats arrival as a gradual sequence rather than a single moment.

From the woodland path, the experience unfolds through dappled light, timber walkways, shifting views, and a gentle ascent into the canopy. This slow transition marks a clear departure from everyday life. Entry into each treehouse opens to expansive views across wetlands and sky, bringing a sense of calm and presence.

Architecture, landscape, and experience are woven into one.

Each treehouse blurs the boundary between inside and out, moving from warm interiors to sheltered outdoor rooms and open decks that extend into the trees. Spaces are shaped not to frame nature as spectacle, but to encourage stillness and connection, allowing guests to feel part of the landscape.

Materials and detailing are intentionally restrained, letting the woodland remain dominant. The treehouses sit lightly within their setting, reflecting the wider environmental ambitions of the rewilding project.

Elmore Treehouses offer more than accommodation. They propose a way of inhabiting the landscape that reconnects people with place and reimagines architecture as a quiet partner in rewilding.
